The 2016 wedding season is right around the corner! As with every season there are always new trends waiting to be revealed. Brides are pushing the envelope more and more as traditions and “rules” no longer exist. Your wedding day is a time to express your personality and creativity for all your guests to enjoy. I love when couples think outside of the box and aren’t scared to try something new – it usually makes for the best photos ever! Give me bold colors and statement bouquets over blush and lace any day. Below are a few trends that you will probably see a lot of this year and into the next!
Separates for Bridesmaids
Instead of the traditional floor length or strapless dresses that we have been seeing for years, 2016 will see a lot of two piece bridesmaid attire and separates. A crop top might even show up if they are brave! Patterned tea length dresses with a cardigan will also be popular this wedding season.
Laser Cut Signage
Laser cut wood is trending pretty big right now. Move over burlap and mason jars, this is the new “rustic theme” wedding must have!
Mountain Weddings and Elopements
With the amount of pressure some couples feel to please their families and stick within a budget, a lot of newly engaged lovers opt to skip all the fuss and head to a remote destination. Still intimate and dreamy, an elopement doesn’t sound all that bad when you get into the thick of wedding planning. While it used to be a surprise when people ran off to get married, its becoming trendier and more accepted by all.
Local, Sustainable Food and Food Stations
More couples are choosing to cater closer to home and provide their guests with a farm-to-table dining experience at their wedding. This may include locally catered food from environmentally resourceful restaurants, food trucks, or even food “stations”. Coffee carts and bars are also becoming more popular. A few local places in the Fox Valley to look into to cater your wedding are: Carmella’s, Seth’s Coffee, SAP, Pizza Fromage, Hawg Tied BBQ.
90s Playlist
The 80s tunes are out and the 90s are coming in strong! With the change of generations and the demographic getting married we will be listening to a lil less Prince and more Spice Girls mixed with Mariah Carey! I’m not complaining…
Greenery over Florals
My favorite trend that I’m seeing! While I love florals, I also love lush, overflowing greenery that makes a statement all by itself! Think eucalyptus garland, ferns for bouquets, moss lined tables… are you drooling yet? It’s going to be amazing and I can’t wait to see more of it!
Entertainment for Guests in Lieu of Favors
Move over can coozies and candy bars couples are now getting creative on how to entertain their guests. From caricature drawings to carnival games to flash mobs to barbershop quartets there are multiple ways to surprise and wow your friends and family at cocktail hour and into the night!
Copper
Rose gold took the world by storm a few years ago and now copper is here to make a statement. If you are serving Moscow Mules at your wedding this trend will be your favorite! Anything from the cake to the flatware to the bridesmaid dresses are fair game to be drenched in this pretty metallic color.
Sleeved Wedding Gowns
Modesty is making a return with a hint of sex appeal still showing. Sleeved gowns are a hip new trend and still can be on point for even the most stylish of brides! This is especially perfect for a late fall or winter wedding – no more shivering!
