Oh this post! It’s been a long time in the making! There is just something about capturing the moments shown below that makes me want to do a fist pump in the air and run outside to hug the first person I see! These photos are the reason I do what I do, its worth the long hours of editing and the busy summer weekends. SO worth it. At the end of every wedding I wonder how I got so lucky to be in this business. I get to prep and plan with brides as the excitement of the day gets closer and closer, I get to meet their families and learn their stories, I get to see so much emotion and love bundled up into one big celebration. The bridal party portraits are fun and the details shots are pretty, but the photos that tell the story are much, much more to me. These are the photographs that are going to make it down the generations and the photos that will give you goosebumps every time you page through your album. While I was sorting through photos and putting this post together my eyes got watery and I choked up more times than I can count. I’ll tell you a few things that make me cry: Dad seeing the bride, divorced parents embracing each other for the first time after many years, candids of grandma and grandpa, emotional grooms, and powerful prayer on a wedding day. I remember many of these moments like they just happened, I remember how it felt and I can hear the voices and laughs all over again. Is it possible to miss every single one of my clients and how welcomed their families made me feel? Because I do! It could be the journalist background I have, but I am so much more honored and thankful to be able to capture these images than I am of any perfectly posed bridal portrait. It’s real, it’s raw, and its way too good not to take a look! I promise its worth scrolling to the end.
